FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Fill one cavity with water, measure the volume or weight, then dry the mould completely before production. Use that as a starting estimate and allow a little extra for pouring losses.

This usually happens when the material is too cool or thick, air is trapped in fine details, or the mould is not filled evenly. Pour slowly, tap the mould gently and use a suitable pouring temperature for your material.

Pour in a thin stream and gently tap or flex the mould after filling. For very detailed shapes, brushing or pouring a small amount into the details first can help before filling the cavity.

Yes, provided the silicone is compatible with the material and temperature. Keep craft moulds separate from food use, and test fragrance, dye and wax residues before switching materials.

Allow the product to set fully, then peel the silicone away from the finished piece instead of pulling the product forcefully. Support thin or projecting details during release.

Yes. Some pigments, dyes and fragrance materials can leave temporary or permanent staining even when the mould still functions normally. Dark shades are best tested first.

Wash gently with mild soap and lukewarm water, rinse well and air-dry completely. Avoid sharp tools, abrasive scrubbers and aggressive solvents that may damage the surface.

Do not assume unlimited heat resistance. Work within the mould supplier's temperature guidance and the safe processing temperature of the soap or wax you are using.

Release depends on the formula, cooling time, temperature, fragrance, colour load and hardness of the finished product. A mould that releases one formula easily may behave differently with another.

Only use a mould for food if it is specifically documented as food-contact suitable. A craft mould should not automatically be treated as food grade.
