FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

No. Treat it as a fixed or infused botanical oil unless the current supplier specification states otherwise. It contributes emolliency and oil-phase character rather than functioning like a concentrated volatile essential oil.

Potentially yes if its skin feel, odour and oxidation stability suit the product. Compare it alone and in blends before deciding the final oil phase.

A water-containing product needs a suitable emulsifier or solubilising strategy to keep the oil uniformly dispersed. Direct addition can cause separation.

Sometimes as a first prototype, but not as a guaranteed 1:1 replacement. Viscosity, fatty-acid profile, colour, oxidation rate and skin feel can change.

No. Vitamin E is an antioxidant, not a complete antimicrobial preservative. Water-containing products still need an appropriate preservation system.

Compare odour and colour with a fresh retained sample. Significant stale, paint-like or unusual odour changes can indicate oxidation.

Yes. Natural or infused oils may bring their own colour and odour. Check compatibility with fragrance and colour-sensitive packaging.

Not necessarily. Anhydrous products have different microbial risks, but contamination during use is still possible. Base preservation decisions on the complete formula and packaging.

If the material is a saponifiable fixed oil, changing the oil blend changes the lye requirement. Use reliable SAP data for the exact material and recalculate the full recipe.

Keep it tightly closed away from heat and direct light. Minimise air exposure and follow the current supplier shelf-life guidance.
