Spearmint Essential Oil
Description: Spearmint belongs to the same family of plant as mint; Lamiaceae. It is native to Europe and Asia now being cultivated throughout the world. It is also known as Garden Mint and Common Mint. Obtained from the leaves, flowering tops and stem of the spearmint plant, the spearmint essential oil is one of the most important oils of the mint family. The leaves of this plant resemble a spear, which is why it is called ‘Spearmint’. In India, the spearmint plant has been used for a long time and its medicinal use is also described in the sacred texts of ‘Ayurveda’ .
