P-gard 221 (Use as Geogard 221)
| What is it? |
A natural broad-spectrum preservative blend based on organic acids. This natural preservative is used in cosmetic products to protect formulas from bacteria and fungi and help them last longer. It is fully compatible with a wide variety of formulations as well as most types of cationic, nonionic and anionic systems. It is composed of DHA and benzyl alcohol and is compliant with NPA and Soil Association criteria, with the ability to work in an extremely wide pH range. |

| Why do we use it in formulations? | It provides broad spectrum activity against bacteria, yeast, and mould whilst being low cost in use. Tests comparing Preservative P-gard 221 to Parabens and Paraben blends indicate higher efficacy and better performance in formulations with a low to neutral pH, and shows good stability and efficacy in a wide variety of formulations |
